Named for Elizabeth Sherriff, an English plant esplorer, 'L. sherriffiae is found in the Himalayas in Bhutan from 8,00 to 12,000 feet. in elevation growing on grassy slopes. This is a delicate lily and growing to about two feet. Derek Fox wrote in his book 'Lilies' that the tessellated flowers are most commonly found in colchicums and fritillarias.
