(Species / Wild Lily)
Derek Fox in his book 'Growing Lilies' remarked "That so late as 1951 such a spectacular plant could still be discovered in Europe but it was the case when Dimiter Delipavlov found this lily in the Rhodope Mountains" An extremely rare European species, it is indeed found in alpine meadows in the Rhodopi Mountains were it is a critically endangered species and listed as a IUCN red list threatened species. To see one in the wild is no simple task.
