Archive Item
(Species / Wild Lily)
From the Sakhalin area of Russia, L. sachalinense is very similar to L. dauricum in appearance. In earlier times it was confused with L. wilsonii . Grown and flowered by Pontus Wallstén of Switzerland, he reports that a bed of or large clump of L. sachalinense will show a great deal of variation. Pontus has an excellent book titled 'The Lily Species and their bulbs' and he can be contacted by email at pontus.wallsten@bluewin.ch for more information. He also offers some rare species lilies in limited quantities that are shipped from his nursery in Switzerland.
