'Lilium oxypetalum var. insigne'

This is the purple form of L. oxypetalum that was discovered in 1939. Reported to be more vigorous in growth than the yellow form, does best in leaf-mold with dappled shade. This native of the Himalayas can be found growing from around 10,000 to 12,000 feet.
