'Shelby' is the newest of the new in the emerging Trumpet x Asiatic class. This new class of lilies gives us the best of both the Trumpets and the Asiatics. From the trumpets we get superior strength in the garden and the Asiatics give us rich colors that are simply not found in Trumpets. The smooth, glistening petals almost give the look of being artificial they are so perfect. Classified as a "black" by breeders, these flowers are a extremely deep red-purple. In light shade they appear to us as black. Settled 'Shelby' reaches 3 to 4 feet and is a late July / early July bloomer. Very, very light fragrance.
