Classification: Longiforum-Asiatic Hybrid (USDA Zones 5-10, winter mulch recommended in the colder climates)
Stock # 5002 - 'Brindisi' - Easter x Asiatic Lily Bulb
Named for the little port town of Brindisi, Italy, the city’s name is derived from Brunda meaning “The head of a Deer”. It’s ancient name was Brundisium. The splendor of Brindisi came about during the Roman age after being conquered in 267 BC by the Roman army following which it became one of the principal seaports during Roman rule as well as a principal embarkation point for the Crusaders during the Middle Ages. In the late 1800’s to 1914, Brindisi was the main stop for the Indian Mail Route with ships setting sale every Sunday afternoon for Port Said, Bombay, and Calcutta.
As Brindisi of the past, ‘Brindisi’ the lily holds a commanding and important position in the garden. The rich, medium pink flowers of ‘Brindisi’ are a sight to behold and rather than becoming an embarkation point, will be a daily destination point in your garden to view the beauty and wonder of this lily. Very color fast and showing just a hint of spotting in cooler areas, bloom will be anticipated for years to come. Light Easter lily scent. 3 to 4 Feet. Late June, early July bloom.
