Saying there is nothing else like it is an understatement. 'Netty's Pride' excelled in our garden trials only showing a tad of stress in the hottest of areas. Even at that, we recommend planting in light afternoon shade. Nearly black in the center, the color is actually a very intense purple. And yes, Dianna's pygmy goat "Nettie" likes them, especially with a flake of hay chaser! 3 Feet. June Flowering, No Fragrance.

Photo inset is of the next generation "black" asiatic. First blooming on June 22 of 2009, this beauty is just a little darker overall, has a little less white in the petals with a fuller and rounder petal. Customers ask "where do the new lilies come from" or "how do you get new lilies" and this is an example. At least 2 generations and more than likely 4 generations until a full black - 6 to 10 years. It is a slow process requiring time, patience, and the keen eye of a master breeder. Seedling bred by Johan Mak.
