Can I intermix Asiatics with Orientals?

Yes, this is a question that has been asked quite frequently over the years, so we suspect that somewhere in a book an author who really didn't know the subject well recommended that they not be mixed - for whatever obscure reason. The advantages are a succession of bloom, ease of care, and a changing palette of color and flower type. In the Autumn it is very easy to dispose of matured, dried stems all at once before winter and it is easy to spread a top dressing of compost or well-rotted manure around the stems in midsummer or fall, plus regular fertilizer in spring if the plants are grouped together.
