| | '**Scratch/Dent Sale'Sorry, NO FREE BONUS BULBS with this sale and the 10% discount code from catalog has expired, but these are well discounted. If you also order Amaryllis bulbs, then we'll hold them to ship everything together and perhaps save you money on shipping. SORRY, THESE SMALLER BULBS ARE SOLD OUT . OR = Oriental Variety (Scented) LO = Longiflorum-Oriental (Scented) OT - Oriental-Trumpet Variety (Scented) LA = Scented Asiatic (Longiflorum-Asiatic) AS = Pure Asiatic (no fragrance) Even though our fall harvest is mostly done by hand with spading forks, bulbs can still be bruised or lose scales during the digging process. These bulbs are normally set aside during our pre-packing inspection and then later planted back into the propagation field for another year’s growth. Out of nearly 32,000 bulbs dug for fall shipping, about 10% are set aside for either cosmetic reasons, or they were just not quite large enough when compared to the general harvest. In this sale group, you will find those bulbs. The smaller sized bulbs are indeed flowering size and did produce blooms this past season along with bulbs that started to divide or had a few scales removed to clean up a bruise. We must move our planting stock from field to field for rotation and in three years it will be time to move the bulbs once again to fresh virgin soil for the next cycle. Rather than having a "patchwork quilt" of small batches that are not cost effective to maintain, we have elected to offer them to you at a discount this fall. Many aren't pretty, and you might still have to remove a soft scale here or there, but the flowers will be beautiful. All are solid bulbs and the bulb nose itself is undamaged and ready to grow. About half of the bulbs being offered in this sale were deemed to be undersize for shipping, but all did flower this past season. The undersize bulbs, although small, will flower next summer. Some might have two and three noses, meaning they will put up two or three stems next year and can be divided by you next fall. If you don't require cosmetically perfect bulbs, but are happy planting smaller bulbs at a discount, this sale is for you. Quantities are limited and all are packed either 3 or 6 to a package. In some cases there are only a couple bulbs of a variety left, then and you'll receive all of them for the same price. When they sell out, we are not going to whack bulbs with a hammer to make more bruised stock, so when they are gone, that's it for this fall. Examples shown in photo are 'Holland Beauty' on the left, a large bulb that the stem pulled out through the side during harvest. In the upper right, the small 12/14 white bulb is a double nose asiatic. Lower right, we have a size 14/16 oriental' that will produce 1 to 3 flowers next year. | Wild Lilies Wild Lily bulbs making up the genus Lilium belong to the family Liliaceae comprising of approximately 200 genera made up of approximately 2,000 lily species.
