We are coming down to the wire for spring 2011 shipping. As the country finally begins to warm, it signals that time is now limited for planting and we expect to close down shipping on Monday, June 6.

While "jobber" companies will continue to ship through June and quite often until the end of July, this is very harmful to lilies and almost guarantees failure their first winter in the coldest areas. Why do they do this? They buy what they offer you and if it doesn't sell, they have no where other than a dumpster for the leftovers. At B & D Lilies, we actually are growers, we don't just tell our customers we are, and our surplus bulbs are scaled and the resulting bulblets are harvested for you 3 to 4 years later. Even with cold storage, when the bulbs begin to sprout, it is time to get them into the ground, not ship them to customers already leafed out.

Now in our final two weeks of shipping, the varieties listed here have been specially priced in packages of three ( 3 ) at 40% off their regular price. All have just begun to sprout, with most showing little “noses”. Be sure to plant at regular depth, burying the sprouts completely to insure proper stem root development. During the month of June, we complete our plantings here for the 2014 harvest as well as update our web sites for our fall 2011 offerings. For the first time in many years we expect to have a super selection of L. martagon and its hybrids for fall planting as the crop looks super coming up in the field. Selling out early this past spring, these highly prized bulbs are still in short supply.
