Classification: Trumpet/Aurelian Hybrid Lily Bulb (USDA Zones 5-10, colder climates w/winter mulch) Stock # 6004ph - 'Golden Splendor Strain' - Trumpet Lily Bulb Lily Bulb #L-6004ph - Harvested late in December, these lily bulbs were left in the propagation field an extra year or two to achieve massive bulb size. As weather permits, these remaining lilies are gently removed and carefully graded for size. Trumpet lilies that are at least 28 cm in circumference are set aside and weighed. If they are over one pound (16 oz. or greater), they make our top grade of Private Harvest™ and are hand layered into crates for storage. Tucked inside a climate-controlled cooler, they await spring shipping with our regular sized bulbs in late March/early April. 'Golden Splendor' has deep gold trumpets, wrapped in maroon-striped reverses, with a heavy, pleasant fragrance. Plant a cluster of these carefully selected, seed-grown bulbs and you will be rewarded for years with a mature stand of splendid 6-to-9-foot plants each covered with loads of enormous, fragrant blooms. Average height when settled-in is 6 feet, but individual plants can be much taller. Provide a stake when established, especially in areas of periodic high wind. A daily constant breeze, with bulbs in full sun, will toughen the stems and stakes are usually not needed, but it is always recommended that a short "marker" stake be put into the ground next to the bulb. Then, if you wish to provide a taller support, it is an easy matter to replace the short stake without damaging the under ground bulb. July. LIMITED SUPPLY.
