'Private Harvest™ L. regale (species)' (Lilium)

Lily Bulb - 'Private Harvest™ L. regale (species)'Classification: Trumpet species (wild) Lily (USDA Zones 5-10, colder climates w/winter mulch)

Lily Bulb #L-8013ph - Harvested late in December, these lily bulbs were left in the propagation field an extra year or two to achieve massive bulb size. As weather permits, these remaining lilies are gently removed and carefully graded for size. Trumpet lilies that are at least 28 cm in circumference are set aside and weighed. If they are over one pound (16 oz. or greater), they make our top grade of Private Harvestª and are hand layered into crates for storage. Tucked inside a climate-controlled cooler, they await spring shipping with our regular sized bulbs in late March/early April.

These beloved, funnel-shaped flowers are very popular for historic preservation, due to their "vintage" role in the evolution of the American landscape. The heavily fragrant blooms are wonderful as a bridge between early Asiatics and late Oriental lilies. Culture same as Trumpet hybrids. White flowers with yellow throats, pale to dark pink outer coloring. Enchanting fragrance and easy-care, popular in all climates.

'L. regale' is perfect in the herbaceous border planted among delphiniums and other July flowering perennials. Introduced to England from China in 1903, our seed grown stock comes from select parents showing greatest flower size and vigor. Grows an average of 5 feet tall, but can be much taller if left undisturbed for a few years, and given regular weeding, watering and fertilizing. 5 to 6 Feet. July.
