'FAQ:2004:4 - Daylily'

Daylilies require much more sun than lily bulbs for best flowering. If the plants are not getting enough sun, you may have marvelous leaves, but only a few flowers. In hot southern areas, light shade under tall trees will be fine; the sunlight is more intense than northern areas. Try to aim for 6 hours or more of sun; they do well in hot sunny locations that will burn the leaves on Oriental lilies, so are great in parking areas and in narrow planting strips next to a fence or building.
